Speak it into existence

Sometimes you have to look at your reflection in the mirror and speak positive things into the atmosphere. Even through troublesome times, you have to constantly remind yourself that things will get better. Within time you will become the product of the words you spoke.

Wait for a reply

Be careful when you send multiple text messages, emails, voice-calls, Facebook messages and any other social media message. Your message is never erased and can be seen by others. It’s best to wait for a response to assure that the person is receiving your intended message. I know of someone who sent the wrong message to the wrong person and let’s say the ending was not pleasurable. This concept can be applied to many areas in life. Assuming without getting a response in certain situations can be destructive to marriages, friendships, business affairs, etc. Anxiety takes on many forms and sometimes its controls and contort its victims into thinking the worse case scenario. Like a horseback rider, simply pull the reins on your emotions and wait….

Trial of Injustice- Chapter One Preview

Chapter 1

Banker, Alabama 2:45a.m., Thursday morning

Two police cars zoomed through the pouring rain. Officer Macabe grabbed his radio once they pulled into the driveway.  “We’ve arrived at the home of the suspect: 316 John Avenue. Stand by.”

Less than a minute later, there was a pounding on the door. Pastor Ganvis frowned, pulling the covers back. “Who is that beating on the door this time of morning?” his wife asked.

He glanced over at her, sliding into his slippers. “I don’t know but I’m about to go find out.”

By the time he got a foot away from the front door, the pounding increased. He leaned his head close to the door and peered out the peep-hole. “Can I help you officers?”

“This is the police,” a harsh southern voice yelled. “Open the door! We are looking for Thaddeus Ganvis.”

Cynthia threw on her robe and walked into the front room. “Why are the police over at our house? And why are they beating on the front door?”

Pastor Ganvis threw up his hand. “Let me handle it honey. I think they may have come to the wrong house.”

Pastor Ganvis slowly opened the door. Two officers stood on the porch and two more stood at the corners of the house. A wrinkle stretched across his forehead. He looked at each officer and stuck his hands in the pockets of his robe. “What seems to be…”

The short stocky officer standing in front of him snatched his gun out. “Take your hands out of your pockets!” Pastor Ganvis threw his hands up. “Don’t shoot, I don’t have a weapon. Officers, I think there has been a terrible mistake.”

Officer Pertule placed his gun back in the holster. “Are you Thaddeus Ganvis?”

“What is going on,” his wife cried.

Pastor Ganvis glanced back at his wife as tears pooled in her eyes. She stood there trembling, shaking her head in denial. He then looked back at the officers. “Yes, I’m Thaddeus Ganvis….Pastor Thaddeus Ganvis. I don’t see what…”

“You’re under arrest,” Officer Macabe said, taking out his handcuffs.

His wife screamed and ran up behind him. Officer Pertule held her back. “Ma’am let us do our job.”

Officer Macabe stared at the wife for a second and clicked the handcuffs on him. “You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand the rights I have just read to you? With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?”

Pastor Ganvis glanced back at his wife. “It will be all right. I’m just going to go downtown and see what’s going on.”

She stood there trembling, tears now streaming down her face.

Officer Macabe yanked Pastor Ganvis by the arm. “Let’s go.”

Pastor Ganvis glanced down at Officer Macabe’s hand and then looked at him square in the eyes. “You may want to take it easy officer. I’m a servant of God.”

The officers looked at each other and smirked. “Yea ok, I guess you weren’t thinking about that when you committed murder.”

Stay Focused

Don’t allow distractions to detour you from the goals you’ve set. Everybody doesn’t have your vision or can see into your spirit unless you give them access. Situations and/or people can easily shift your focus, if you allow them to. To avoid being stagnated or stuck in a cycle, each day must be a step toward your goal. It doesn’t matter if your goal is as simple as to lose weight, the question is, what have you done today to assure your obtainable goal? Instead of pointing fingers, we must be active. You don’t want to be that individual twenty years from now wishing they could go back and change the past. Or someone suffering from cardiac failure or some type of illnesses attributed to obesity. The point is that you can change your status now. The seed of change begin with a thought, but your actions must follow those particular thoughts.

The Trial of Injustice
A story of faith that will leave you breathless….

Charles Esquire moved away from home after graduating from college, pursuing a career as a lawyer. After extensive studies, he passed the bar exam and began practicing. From a young age, Pastor Ganvis treated him like a son and taught him the Word of God, instilling faith in his heart. An an adult, he carried those teaching over into his studies and profession. Throughout the years his winning percentage was the highest in the firm, often referring to him as Mr. Esquire. One evening he received a startling phone call. The pastor he loved, trusted, and served, had been charged with 1st degree murder. Without a second thought, he flies back to town and takes on the trial, in hope to prove the innocence of a just man. Along the way he discovers the opposition that threatens his pastor’s livelihood and hidden secrets of townsmen. As he digs deeper, he questions his faith and the faith of the one man he trusted.

I’ve ventured into different genres in my earlier writings but this one is my favorite. Mysteries, well crafted and diversified, can open up a world of possibilities. And of course, my particular book with have the gospel essence not verbally uttered but rather displayed. The thrilling part about writing this type if book is the research involved. I find myself watching litigation movies(The Lincoln Lawyer, The Rainmaker, My Cousin Vinny, The Firm, etc etc) and brief study of police procedures. We thought it was going to be a deep into the future project, but it seems that story isn’t waiting. As I write one chapter, others began to form.
The journey has begun.
